Northpoint was appointed to create a world class boutique hotel on the exquisitely beautiful Fregate Island, which is part of the Seychelles group of Islands. Fregate Island is close to La Digue and Praslin. The resort consist of a 6 star hotel village designed in an appropriate “island style” as well as a private luxury residence for the island owner.
Built of wood and dark brown gold stone, with thatched roofs, the resort’s architecture incorporates elements of Thai and Balinese style, blending perfectly with the coconut, banyan and wild fig trees that are abundant on the island.
With only 16 villas and one Presidential Villa, guests are invited to experience the rare luxuries of space, security and seclusion within a tropical island setting of exuberant natural beauty. The villas are built of native mahogany and blend harmoniously into the natural surroundings. The tropical feel of the buildings is deliberately casual. Each villa has a large terrace with a day bed and Jacuzzi as an extension of the living area. The light and spacious interior houses colonial-style furniture and state-of-the-art technology.
For dining there is a choice of the main restaurant in Fregate House, or Creole delicacies in the carefully restored former plantation great house.
Construction of the resort was subject to strict regulations to safeguard the environment, and the preservation and protection of the island’s unique flora and fauna continues to be among Fregate’s main priorities.
